Cziomer has always been involved in technology from his years in the Philippine Science High School, before becoming an industrial engineer at the University of the Philippines. His first job was technical consulting for Hewlett-Packard before moving to the pioneering Lazada digital marketplace. A few years later, Etaily drew her to her because of “her ingrained vision of using data and technology to help merchants on their e-commerce journey. “Before, the customer’s wait for online delivery was a week,” Cziomer explains of this change. “But now the expectations have shifted to same day delivery. She cites a case study: “Before, the Visayans did not want to order from the NCR because shipping is expensive; they prefer to go to the grocery store. But now we can process their orders from the Visayan distribution center, and not bring the product in from the NCR. This process shortens the delivery time and makes it more cost effective.

The next technological trends

Long before COVID-19, Cziomer could anticipate technological trends and adapt accordingly, including working from home. “Even though I was just starting to raise a family at the time, I had and still have a great environment to pursue my career. I could do my job anywhere before the WFH even became fashionable.

The next technological developments that it sees occur concern the integration of shopping features into social media platforms and the rise of more personalized shopping experiences.

Above all, Cziomer’s parent, mentor and tech guru can’t wait to nurture the talents of the next generation of digital nomads and tech-savvy experts. “I am personally passionate about encouraging kids to get into technology,” she says. “With technology there are so many new careers now that weren’t there before that you can now explore.
