SET listed Dusit International is sticking to its 2022 hotel opening schedule, developing a long-term strategy while implementing an asset light model.
Dusit International CEO Suphajee Suthumpun said the company is on schedule to open new hotels in Thailand and overseas, including Greece, India, the Middle East, the Philippines and China.
Dusit Thani’s international portfolio of luxury hotels, resorts and villas currently spans 16 countries and comprises over 300 different properties, including 47 hotels and nearly 276 villas.
The centerpiece of the Dusit Thani Bangkok Hotel is still undergoing a major renovation, which began in January 2019. It is part of the new and much improved Dusit Central Parka mixed-use joint venture project in partnership with Central Pattana, built at a cost of 36.7 billion baht ($1.1 billion).
Going forward, the majority of hotels planned by Dusit are under management contracts, which will complement the company’s property portfolio and other properties in which it has invested. In addition, the company intends to sign hotel management and franchising contracts, as well as potential hotels. offers.
Suthumpun said she believes solo travelers and the MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) group sector will now be top priorities in any destination’s business model as they need to make up for the missing Chinese market.
She said that all hotels use data to improve the guest experience and create value for stakeholders, as the company not only aims to provide short-term financial benefits, but also to create value at long term.
Additionally, the company will adapt to changing needs, such as cleaner and healthier customer lifestyles, as well as the work-from-anywhere trend. She said Dusit Hotels and Resorts properties will offer long-stay plans that will appeal to digital nomads, which will be a major source of revenue starting this year.
