Croatia unveils two new opportunities for digital nomads

Remote workers can apply for a chance to win a free month’s stay in Zagreb

In recent months Croatia has gained a reputation as one of the best places for digital nomads. In January, the country announced it would offer temporary stay visas to these workers and in March, it announced the first-ever digital residency nomads competition.

Now it is taking two more important steps to secure its position as one of the EU’s best locations for digital nomads. In other words, local remote working specialists in Croatia, Saltwater Nomads, have announced two upcoming opportunities: Zagreb Digital Nomad Week 2021 and Zagreb Digital Nomad Ambassador Project.

Zagreb Digital Nomad Week 2021

This week will take place from June 21 to 27 and it caters to both experienced and new digital nomads. Above 7 days a week, 7 key themes will be explored and discussed: cybersecurity, online presence, remote careers, taxation and finance, future of work, welfare and exploration of Zagreb.

Saltwater Nomads explains that they have several partner sites including Hilton Canopy, Swanky Mint Hostel, Hub385, Impact Hub, etc. As such, each day of the program will take place in a different location, starting with the Hilton Canopy on June 21.

It should be noted that the program will feature key speakers such as nomadic digital permit initiator Jan de Jong as well as experts in taxation, finance, lifestyle, technology and cybersecurity.

Zagreb Digital Nomad Ambassador Project

Zagreb Tourist Board invites remote workers to apply to become digital nomadic ambassadors and win a free month’s stay in the capital of Croatia. The project will last six months July to December. It means that six digital nomads (and their families) will have the chance to live and work in Zagreb for free for a month.

Applications for this project are now open and the first winner will be announced during Zagreb Digital Nomad Week in June 2021. According to Saltwater Nomads, entries will be received on an ongoing basis until November 1st.

Those interested in applying should be over 18, available to work remotely and able to share experiences online. Zagreb Digital Nomadic Ambassadors will be considered “special guests” of the Zagreb Tourist Board. In addition, they will be required to promote digital nomadic life in Croatia on social media platforms.
