Casa Nomad will open on September 23 in the MKT Heights development at 600 N. Shepherd Drive, Houston. Offering cuisine and atmosphere reminiscent of a coastal Mexican restaurant, the restaurant concept comes from Roland Keller, Tyler Barrera and Keith Doyle, the same hospitality trio behind Wicklow Heights.
“Tulum has long been one of our favorite travel destinations,” Keller said in a statement. “With Casa Nomad, we wanted to bring a slice of Tulum to Houston so that Houstonians could experience in their own backyards the bohemian vibe that makes Tulum such a special place to us.”
The restaurant is entirely set up on a 28-seat covered outdoor patio with a rope awning, walls adorned with sky-blue tiles and perimeters planted with tropical vegetation.
The menu specializes in Mayan-inspired dishes from Executive Chef Vincent Forchelli. The offerings include tuna crudo tostadas with truffle cream, bone marrow topped with guajillo marmalade and a skirt steak topped with matcha salsa and mushroom agridulce that will be served with corn tortillas.
A tropical cocktail menu curated by Barrera offers beach and summer libations, including El Centote, consisting of green chartreuse, Vago Elote Mezcal, elote liqueur, pineapple, velvet falernum and demerara topped with mint and a slice of pineapple.
