Buenos Aires Hours | Buenos Aires to host Latin America’s first conference for digital nomads

Highlighting the capital’s burgeoning reputation as a destination for travelers working remotely, the city government of Buenos Aires has announced that it will host the continent’s first-ever conference for digital nomads next week.

The two-day in-person and online hybrid event, which takes place at the Usina del Arte in La Boca, is an initiative to revive the visitor economy of the capital and boost international tourism, especially at young professionals.

NomadsBA, which runs November 26-27, is the city’s first international conference since the coronavirus pandemic. With seasoned digital nomads and entrepreneurs from around the world, attendees will enjoy lectures and workshops on a range of topics, from business models to personal branding.

Educator, entrepreneur and adventurer Jimmy Naraine headline the event; real estate entrepreneur Matt Bowles (Maverick Investor Group); Rosanna Lopes, digital marketing expert and nomadic community builder; tech entrepreneur and unicorn founder Alec Oxenford (OLX Group, Letgo); and film producer Axel Kutchevasky.

More than 25 free activities and sessions have been organized, including networking opportunities, meetings, tours, cocktails, yoga classes and openings of co-working spaces, as authorities seek to persuade nomads digital that Buenos Aires is the perfect place for them. .

The town hall hopes to attract around 22,000 people to the capital by 2023, with the number of digital nomads increasing. New travel trends such as “workations” and remote working have seen the sector explode in recent years, with an increasing number of young professionals looking for a life that balances work and financial flexibility with travel and leisure.

After the news, the town hall announced that it will soon introduce a new “digital nomad visa”, extending the duration of the current standard tourist visa from 90 days to a full year.

“We want young people around the world to choose Buenos Aires to live, study or work. A city is better able to grow and develop when it has stronger international ties and influences. Our city is an ideal destination for digital nomads: it has a great culture and diversity, a high human capital, and above all it is livable, accessible and affordable ”, said the mayor of the city Horacio Rodríguez Larreta in a statement.
