The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to announce that Bangkok has been ranked the second best city in the world and the best city in Asia for digital nomads, in a new study by the UK flexible working solutions provider The Instant Group.

“This is a wonderful distinction for Bangkok and Thailand, recognizing the Thai capital’s attributes of modernity, connectivity and affordability. It’s even more gratifying when you consider how well it complements Thailand’s goal of growing its digital nomad travel industry under the “Visit Thailand Year 2022: Amazing New Chapters” campaign.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of TAT

Second in the world after Lisbon, Portugal, in the world ranking of 80 cities for digital nomads, Bangkok performed well in the key areas of affordability, weather, broadband speed, landscapes and transports.

Its impressive location has been helped by the wide variety of excellent local and street food on offer, the over 15,000 high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots available, excellent transport options and some of the cheapest accommodation. expensive ones available worldwide.

Bangkok was also one of only two Asian cities to feature in the top 10 cities in the world according to the survey, the other being Seoul in 7th place.

Research has shown that there are already 35 million digital nomads worldwide, and with advances in technology, remote working and workplace culture, it is believed that by 2035 that number could reach a billion. Forecasts indicate that the global mobile workforce will account for one in three employees.

Besides Bangkok, Thailand also offers other popular destinations ideal for digital nomads, such as Phuket, Samui, and Chiang Mai.
