Bangkok named best city for digital nomads

BANGKOK (The Nation / Asia News Network): Bangkok took first place as one of the best cities for a “workation” in a survey conducted by the German rental search engine Holidu.

A “job” is a journey where one can travel to a new destination and work from there. This allows you to visit family members or explore a destination without having to use your time off.

The website analyzed factors related to work and vacations in more than 150 countries. Work-related factors included long-distance connections, coworking spaces, caffeine, travel, and after-work drinks.

Factors related to the vacation included accommodation, food, weather, tourist attractions, and Instagramability.

Based on these factors, the website compiled a list of the top five cities, namely:

• Bangkok, Thailand

• New Delhi, India

• Lisbon, Portugal

• Barcelona, Spain

• Buenos Aires, Argentina and Budapest, Hungary (tie)

According to Holidu, Bangkok took first place because it is one of the most affordable cities in the world.

For example, accommodation in Bangkok can be expensive, but the food is cheap. In addition, according to the website, most of the inhabitants of the Thai capital speak English and the city offers great facilities.

The website pointed out that while the internet speed in Bangkok may not be the fastest with an average of 28 Mbps, there are over 450,000 free WiFi points in the city.

Bangkok also won first place for having a lot of places of cultural significance for tourists to visit, such as the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, as well as street shops and floating markets.
